Doors Open Day is Scotland’s largest free festival, celebrating the places and stories that shape our past and inspire our future.
Every September, hundreds of extraordinary buildings across the country throw open their doors—completely free to explore. Some welcome visitors just once a year, others perhaps only once in a lifetime, making every visit feel like a rare privilege.
The Kirk of St Nicholas has proudly taken part for the past few years and is a very popular attraction. The response has been overwhelming. So many people pour through our doors that by the end of day one we’ve quite literally lost our voices—meaning we open only on the Saturday.
Last year, thousands stepped inside and discovered the breathtaking beauty of the Kirk right on their own doorstep, leaving amazed that such a remarkable space had been hiding in plain sight.
