Kitchen & Toilet

The Works

The existing extension block currently accommodates a vestry, small kitchenette, WC and a secondary entrance point/fire escape exit.

However, these facilities are dated, limited in size and no longer meet the needs of a modern building standard. At present, the Kirk has only one accessible toilet facility located within the sanctuary area, which will remain in place and continue to serve as the main accessible WC for the building.

As part of the proposed refurbishment works, the extension block will be upgraded to provide improved welfare facilities for all users of the Kirk. The proposals include the installation of three new unisex toilets, creating more facilities capable of supporting a wider range of community events, services and activities. In addition, the existing kitchenette will be replaced with a larger and more functional kitchen space, better suited to catering for gatherings, workshops and community use.

The provision of modern kitchen and toilet facilities is one of the most critical elements of the project. Without these essential amenities, the Kirk cannot operate as a flexible and sustainable community space capable of supporting the diverse range of uses and activities planned for its future.
